Pariah and Three Seasons Are Coming Back to Sundance for the Festival’s 40th Edition
Both films won accolades at the 2011 and 1999 festivals, respectively.
The films Pariah and Three Seasons are coming back to Sundance for the film festival’s 40th anniversary.
The festival will take place January 18 to 28, 2024, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, with a selection of titles available online nationwide in the US from January 25 to 28, 2024.
Pariah
Pariah had its world premiere at Sundance in 2011 and won the Excellence in Cinematography Award. The contemporary drama is the feature-length expansion of writer/director Dee Rees’ award-winning 2007 short film by the same name.
The film follows Alike, a 17-year-old with a flair for poetry, who is quietly but firmly embracing her identity as a lesbian. Wondering how much she can confide in her family, Alike strives to get through adolescence with grace, humor, and tenacity—sometimes succeeding, sometimes not, but always moving forward.
Three Seasons
From director Tony Bui, Three Seasons won the Grand Jury Prize, Audience Award, and Cinematography Award at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. The Vietnamese-American film depicts a collection of stories set in Saigon.
Focus Features’ upcoming film The American Society of Magical Negroes, Kobi Libii’s feature directorial debut, will also have its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
